Overview
Exploring how play can reshape creative workflows for artists
As part of CS 195, I joined a research initiative led by Catherine Mullings in Stanford's Human-Computer Interaction Group that explores the intersection of visual arts and gaming. The project centers around Art TCG, a creative trading card game where players illustrate and design their own cards, which are then used in strategic two-player gameplay. The research addresses how illustrators can reframe their creative workflow by embedding art-making into play, reducing pressure and perfectionism.
My role focused on frontend development for the game's web application. I translated high-fidelity Figma designs into responsive, interactive components using React, and implemented core features such as card animations and real-time interactions. This experience strengthened my skills in full-stack web development and HCI research methodology.
